To do this, Scott Yu-Jan said he had to think of many ways to make the design as compact as possible, by combining it with a small discrete screen because the Mac mini is required. screen to operate.
After many design sketches, Scott Yu-Jan came to the decision to use the iPad mini 6 he currently has as the screen for the Mac mini, because the length of the iPad mini and Mac mini is almost perfect. do this. And this is how Scott Yu-Jan did it.
First, he used a 3D printer to print out a fixed frame for the Mac mini, then printed another part to fix the screen (in this case, the iPad mini 6). Then connect these 2 parts together with screws so that the screen fixing frame can be tilted at different angles. The power cord and connection cord are also fixed around the body.
Scott Yu-Jan connects Mac mini to iPad mini with a USB-C – USB-C cable, brings additional power cords for Mac mini and tada… here’s the result.
To be able to use the iPad mini as a display for the Mac mini, Scott Yu-Jan uses the Duet application that allows the transfer of image signals in Retina resolution via a USB-C cable. Now Mac mini can both export images to the iPad mini, while also charging the iPad mini. With this setup, Scott Yu-Jan can work anytime, anywhere as long as there is an electrical outlet.
The overall design is also not too cumbersome, completely to fit in a backpack, of course you will need an extra wireless keyboard, extra mouse if you don’t like using touch.
