Ukrainian authorities also accept donations in Dogecoin. This information was confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, cum Minister of Digital Transformation, via a post on Twitter.
He wrote: “The value of Dogecoin is now higher than the Russian ruble. We started accepting donations in meme coins. Now the meme can also support our army and save us from Russia. Dogecoin owners in the world, Elon Musk, Billy Markus (Dogecoin founder) take action.”
Mr. Fedorov attached the official Ukrainian Dogecoin wallet in the post sent to about 180,000 followers on Twitter. As such, Ukraine is currently accepting donations in Bitcoin, Ether, Tether, Solana, and Dogecoin.
Merkle Science, a blockchain analytics firm, said on March 2 that the Ukrainian government and other NGOs like the DAO have received more than $52 million in cryptocurrency.
Responding to Mr. Fedorov’s call, Markus wrote: “The Dogecoin community is not so rich and Dogecoin itself should only be used for microtransactions, but we are a compassionate and selfless collective.” .
Deputy Prime Minister Fedorov called for Dogecoin donations on March 2 by noting that the value of the meme coin has surpassed that of the Russian ruble. On March 2, Dogecoin was trading at $0.1345, while the ruble was worth 1 cent less than the greenback.
