The VGA market is becoming more and more exciting, as Intel confirms it will join with a new line of discrete graphics cards for desktops, promising to break the monopoly of the two giants Nvidia and AMD. But this game will be even more crowded, when recently a manufacturer from China has also launched its latest gaming VGA.
China’s Moore Threads manufacturer was just established in 2020 and publicly operated by the end of 2021. But this fledgling company has many factors to become a competitor of the great Nvidia. AMD. The CEO of Moore Threads is Mr. Zhang Jianzhong – former Vice President and General Manager of Nvidia worldwide with 15 years of experience.
Recently, Moore Threads has launched two new VGA models, MTT S60 and MTT S2000. Manufactured based on TSMC’s 12nm transistors, the performance of these two VGAs is not really outstanding. However, these are still the most promising VGAs from China, because of DirectX compatibility, plus AI features and video decoding.
MTT S60 is a gaming VGA, but the specifications are quite modest. The MTT S60 is packed with 2048 cores based on the proprietary MUSA architecture, plus 8GB of LPDDR4X, which theoretically allows for 6 TFLOPS. In terms of performance, this VGA is equivalent to the Nvidia GTX 1070 that was released 6 years ago.
Moore Threads used the game League of Legends with 1080p resolution to showcase the power of the VGA MTT S60. What a surprise debut for the viewers. However, in return, the MTT S60 is one of the very few VGAs from China that supports DirectX 12.
The MTT S2000 gets double cores and TFLOPS, offering up to 32GB of VRAM. However, this is a VGA used for data centers, artificial intelligence projects, as well as video and graphics processing.
There is currently no information on the selling price. Moore Threads is expected to sell the first VGA cards in a few months, and will only sell it in the domestic market.
