A representative of the CellphoneS retail system said that in September, the demand for tablets, especially iPads, increased by about 50% compared to last year, the average purchasing power was 20% higher than the peak in May, Meanwhile, the smartphone segment decreased purchasing power by 70-80% during the epidemic season.

According to this agent, the tablet models that users are interested in during the epidemic are mainly mid-range iPads and Android tablets, which are reasonably priced and suitable for the needs of studying and working remotely.

Returning to smartphone market share, Samsung in Q3 was still the most popular brand in Vietnam, accounting for 49% of the market share. Occupying the majority of Samsung’s market share are low-cost and mid-range phones such as Galaxy A12, Galaxy A03s and Galaxy A22 (statistics from Counterpoint Research).

5G smartphones in Vietnam also witnessed growth in the third quarter when up to 20% of the total smartphone sales in Vietnam supported 5G. This is to be expected as current smartphone brands are working to popularize 5G networks down to more affordable segments.

It is expected that smartphone output in the fourth quarter of Vietnam will increase sharply again when the COVID-19 epidemic is partly controlled. The fourth quarter is also the time when the shopping demand of users increases at the end of the year, and it is also the time when many smartphone brands launch new products.
