1976 5.25-inch floppy still works on Windows 11 – LLODO


Windows 11 is a major upgrade to bring a modern Windows experience, officially launched by Microsoft in October 2021. Windows 11 requires specifications that are considered quite high with strict security requirements. . Many Windows 10 computers were unable to install Windows 11, at least officially, as it required TPM 2.0.

In other words, you need new hardware to get the most out of Windows 11, although in some cases it may seem like old hardware will still work perfectly on the new operating system. Old how? Like a floppy disk?

A video posted by Jrcraft on YouTube shows that 5.25″ floppy disks are still properly recognized by Windows 11 and users can read their contents, feeling like going back to the old Windows era.

The floppy disk was first invented and manufactured by IBM in 1971 with a size of 8 inches. In 1976, Shugart Associates introduced the 5.25-inch floppy disk, the kind you see in the video above. In 1981, Sony introduced the 3.5-inch floppy disk format and it became an extremely popular floppy disk format.

Of course, not many people still use floppy disks, but if you still use them, you should be able to access archived files simply with Windows 11.
