According to a source from TechnikNews, Sony will soon launch a new WH-1000XM4 over-ear headset. This will be a more comprehensive upgrade version than the WH-1000XM4 generation launched in 2020.
With the new WH-1000XM5, the headset will have a more different design, with larger earpads on both sides and a seamless headband. The hinge area adjacent to the earpads has also been redesigned, the overall headset looks much fresher and more beautiful than previous upgrades on the XM4 generation.
The headset’s power button will be designed in a sliding form, with a separate ANC / Crosstalk mode trigger button. Noise canceling mode is said to be upgraded more strongly.
In addition to the new design, the WH-1000XM5 will also have a longer battery life, up to 40 hours of continuous music playback when noise canceling is on, which is 10 hours more than the XM4. Charging time is also shortened to only about 3.5 hours.
There is currently no price and official launch date of the WH-1000XM5 headset, but it is likely that the headset will be introduced by Sony this year.
