Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have just been released for more than a month now, but Google’s flagship smartphone duo has encountered a lot of bugs that annoy users. From the error of the fingerprint sensor under the screen is too slow, to the error of the charging speed is not as announced, or the strange error that makes the Pixel 6 automatically randomly call strangers.
Google has also managed to fix the bugs on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, with software updates. However, recently, users continue to report another strange error that costs them money to buy genuine Google chargers.
As shared by Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users on the Reddit forum, they cannot charge Google’s smartphones with old chargers or third-party chargers. What makes this problem even more serious is that Google, like Apple or Samsung, no longer includes a charger inside the box of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
There is a conspiracy theory that Google intentionally does this to force users to buy its genuine 30W charger, which costs 30 USD. Of course, there is no guarantee that this conspiracy theory is true.
Initial user feedback indicates that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro cannot be charged using the car’s smartphone charging system. Another user said that he had no problems for the first 10 days of use, but after that he could no longer charge the battery with the old charger.
On the Pixel forums, one Pixel 6 owner said: “When I plugged my Pixel 6 into the USB-C charger that I use for other devices, nothing happened, the battery didn’t charge, there was no error message, it was just like it was never connected. “.
This member went on to say: “I have continued to try various chargers that I have. None of the chargers work. In the end, I had to plug in the Google charger for the smartphone to charge. I’m really disappointed.”
“It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life. If for some reason Google decides that their smartphone can only be charged with their original cable/charger, I will return this smartphone as soon as possible. I have about 20 chargers scattered throughout the room, I’m not going to replace all of them just because I bought a new smartphone.”
According to another member’s share, it seems that this strange error is encountered when users use a charger with a USB-A port and a USB-A to USB-C cable. Meanwhile, 3rd party chargers using USB-C ports and USB-C to USB-C cables can still work. Google has not yet responded to this issue.
