ROG Phone 5s is an upgraded version of the ROG Phone 5 that was launched by ASUS early last year. Although this machine does not bring many changes in external design, it possesses outstanding upgrades in hardware, as well as user experience.
The box of ROG Phone 5s still uses an animated style and is somewhat monumental, more invested than its predecessor.
Inside the box, which only includes the device and charger, the AeroActive Cooler 5 cooling fan will be included during the promotion period when buying the device.
It can be easily recognized that the external appearance of ROG Phone 5s is almost the same as “same” as its predecessor. Maybe, the milky white tone and accents are imprinted with blue details for a more youthful and dynamic feeling than the dark and pitiful appearance of the elder ROG Phone 5.
Prominent on the back of ROG Phone 5s is still the Republic of Gamers logo, which has the ability to glow and change RGB colors, creating beautiful effects and bringing gamers into this machine. This back is still finished with glossy glass and curved edges for an easy grip, even though this machine is quite heavy and has a slightly larger size for a regular phone.
The blue sim tray looks fresh and stands out against the opaque white back.
The power key is also covered with green paint, creating an interesting highlight on the right side of the device.
The left side of the device has a contact area so that users can install the AeroActive Cooler 5 cooling fan for the machine and a USB-C port to charge the battery when holding the device horizontally playing games. On this fan, there is a 3.5m headphone port and USB-C, so gamers can comfortably plug in the charger as well as headphones to play games when using the fan.
On this fan is equipped with two physical keys to make it easier for players to control.
On the front of ROG Phone 5s is still a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a ratio of 20.4: 9 with a resolution of 2448 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. ASUS says that this monitor also supports HDR10 standard and Always-on HDR technology to improve color display quality.
The touch sampling rate has also been upgraded to 360Hz, for ultra-low latency that promises a truly smooth control experience.
The right side of the machine is also equipped with two AirTrigger 5 control keys to help gamers control easily and conveniently, especially in action shooting games. In addition, the upgrade of ultrasonic sensors, along with the ability to customize, enhances usability on different applications when used in normal mode.
ROG Phone 5s is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888+ chip with a 3.0 GHz CPU clock that supports 5G and UFS 3.1, delivering impressive performance, up to 20% higher than the previous generation. Moreover, this machine is also equipped with integrated Adreno 660 graphics and 16GB LPDDR5 RAM.
ROG Phone 5s still has the Armory Crate application integrated with the signature X mode, allowing users to fine-tune from performance to game modes, heat dissipation and ROG lights behind the back.
On ROG Phone 5s, ASUS still has a 6000mAh battery with two cells and 65W fast charging support. Combined with the GameCool 5 cooling system, the company says this design will help balance performance while ensuring heat output for a long time.
