Both received the code from Google soon to have it ready when the official Android version is released. However, Qualcomm chooses to provide updates “in parallel” because “in batches” like MediaTek. Qualcomm’s “parallel” update method allows updates to be delivered to all of its products simultaneously, not in small, limited groups like MediaTek’s.
This results in a faster, continuous update release cycle, ensuring most devices powered by Qualcomm’s chips receive updates sooner than MediaTek’s. However, this director said that MediaTek chose the slower update method because of workforce limitations, and this way also helps to limit the occurrence of mass errors on many platforms using MediaTek. .
Despite the limitation on Android update speed, MediaTek is still an important partner of many smartphone manufacturers in the mid-range and low-cost segments. In 2020, Xiaomi is MediaTek’s biggest partner in this segment.
