In 2022, Samsung has made significant changes in its mid-range Galaxy A and Galaxy M lineup. There are both “reverse improvements” such as the removal of the included charger in some products and also upgrades such as a somewhat more uniform design and especially the all-new Exynos 1280 processor.
Like the Galaxy A33 5G and A53 5G duo, the Galaxy M33 5G was released at the same time also equipped with this processor.
Talking a little about technology, Exynos 1280 is Samsung’s first mid-range processor built on an advanced 5nm process, owning 2 high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores, 6 ARM Cortex-A55 cores and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 cores. ARM Mali-G68 GPU with 1000MHz clock speed.
We start with the Antutu Benchmark performance test, the Exynos 1280 achieved 431,537 total points, with CPU and GPU scores of 123,405 and 122180 respectively. Looking at the chart, the Galaxy M33 5G with this processor ranks 101st, “trying harder” is equal to an old generation high-end Exynos processor from Samsung, the Exynos 9820 on the Galaxy S10e.

The evaluation scores from Geekbench, 3DMark and PCMark are also positive, completely outperforming a mid-range processor that is also very popular at the moment, the Snapdragon 695 5G. With such performance, Samsung’s new processor is definitely made to compete more with the high-end Snapdragon 7-series than the 6-series.
We move to real-world performance with games. The first is Lien Quan Mobile, with the highest graphics levels set, only the Image quality can only be set to High, not HD. This is still a weakness of mid-range processors when not choosing some of the highest graphics levels in the game.
However, perhaps this limit is set to be correct only, when at the above graphics level, the machine can not hold 100% of the 60fps frame. The FPS line measured from the PerfDog software is not completely straight, but there are times when it “drops” slightly to about 55 – 56fps, still not to the point of creating a strong sense of lag but enough for us to notice.
With League of Legends: Wild Rift, the situation is better, because it seems that this game is better optimized than Lien Quan. At the highest graphics threshold 1 level lower, the game is still quite beautiful and keeps the frame rate of 60fps. The line shown above is not flat, but ranges from 59 – 62fps, not lower.
If you were to ask which game is “destroying” all processors on smartphones, it is Genshin Impact. Even the top products with Snapdragon 8 gen 1 like Galaxy S22 Ultra also have to “stretching” to play this game, should the Galaxy M33 5G with Exynos 1280 “greet” to anything?
And it is true that this game is not made to be played on real mid-range machines! Even setting the graphics to low (Low) but the game often stops at 24fps – the frame rate of movies rather than games!
In general, the Galaxy M33 5G with the new Exynos 1280 has decent performance in the mid-range segment, but there is nothing called “breakthrough”. But what it does very well is the duration of use. Thanks to the new energy-saving process processor and 5000mAH battery, the device feels like using forever without seeing the battery run out!
In a day of use including 20.5 hours of screen off and 7 hours and 24 minutes of on, the device still has nearly 45% battery left. Going about specific tasks, watching videos on Youtube for 5 hours takes about 27% of the battery, playing games for 1 hour takes 9.8%, and watching TikTok for 1 hour takes 7.4%.
Note that this is a day off, so I use the device for entertainment a lot, with working days only using the device to surf the web, check mail, receive regular calls, the device will definitely be comfortable for 2 days, even up to the third half of the day.
The device is also equipped with 25W fast charging, but unfortunately, it is already in the “cutting chargers to protect the environment” of Samsung, so when you buy the device you will have to invest an extra amount for this accessory.
