The BMW i3 eDrive35L model uses BMW’s 5th generation eDrive powertrain, which is also used in the BMW iX3, BMW i4 and BMW iX. The all-electric four-door sedan will also be the first 3-Series vehicle to feature the company’s OS8 operating system, with features including Digital Key, which turns the owner’s smartphone into a car key.

The car has an overall size of 4,872 x 1,846 x 1,481 mm, a wheelbase of 2,966 mm.

BMW says the i3 eDrive35L has a maximum capacity of 281 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds and can reach 80% charge within 35 minutes. When fully charged, the vehicle has an estimated range of 526 km.

The automaker says the 3-Series has already led the premium compact car segment in China in 2021, so it makes sense to release an all-electric version. BMW has even tweaked the electric vehicle’s suspension to suit China’s road conditions and will assemble the car at a factory in Shenyang.

i3 eDrive35L is BMW’s sixth all-electric model. Similar to other automakers, BMW is also aiming to completely switch to electric vehicles within the next 10 to 20 years. The company announced that the last Mini with an internal combustion engine will be launched in 2025 and that its all-electric models will account for 50% of global sales by 2030.
