According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is testing a 9-inch foldable device, but it will not be until 2025 that the iPhone with a folding screen will be released.
Kuo said Apple is “actively testing” a device with a 9-inch folding OLED display and a pixel density that’s somewhere between an iPhone and an iPad. This device is used by the company to evaluate the technology used in future official devices and can be very different in specifications from the final product.
Kuo believes that Apple’s foldable device roadmap will initially focus on mid-sized devices, followed by devices with larger screens, before expanding to small devices like the iPhone .
Last year, Kuo claimed that Apple would release a foldable iPhone in 2024, but has now moved that prediction to 2025. He added that Apple’s first foldable device could be the iPad.
