After a short time of launch in the Chinese market, recently the Redmi K50 Gaming has officially “docked” in the Vietnamese market via a portable route. This is Redmi’s latest gaming smartphone, equipped with a terrible configuration, quality heat dissipation, along with optimal features for gaming.
Redmi K50 Gaming has a similar packaging to the previous K40 Gaming version, comes with a full range of accessories including 120W super fast charging, USB-C charging cable and transparent silicone case
The version we have on hand is the white version, in addition, the Redmi K50 Gaming also has a special blue option, which is a cooperation version with Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.
This back of Redmi K50 Gaming is finished from frosted glass, with typical symmetrical textures
The main camera cluster has a design that is quite similar to the K40 Gaming, including 3 lenses: 64MP wide angle, 8MP ultra wide angle and 2MP macro, this parameter is unchanged compared to its predecessor. On this camera cluster is also engraved 2 phrases “Freezing” (freezing) and “Speediest” (fastest), accompanied by a lightning-shaped LED flash.
This camera cluster is not too convex compared to the back, but we still recommend users to use the attached case to best protect the device.
In terms of photo quality, as a gaming phone, users should not expect too much from a quality camera system.
On the front, Redmi K50 Gaming is equipped with a 6.67-inch screen, using an AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling frequency. This screen supports 10-bit color and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus
The system allows customization between levels of 60/90/120Hz
This screen uses a “mole” design with a 20MP selfie camera using an IMX596 . sensor
In general, the screen of the Redmi K50 Gaming is completely fine with entertainment tasks, especially gaming. Because it is an AMOLED screen, the color tones will feel slightly brighter than in reality
Redmi K50 Gaming is equipped with the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip at the moment, 8GB or 12GB RAM (supports RAM expansion up to 15GB), 128GB or 256GB storage memory
Scoring with AnTuTu v8 and Geekbench 5 software, Redmi K50 Gaming gives a strong performance score. If scored with AnTuTu v9, the device gives a score of nearly 1 million, but when scoring with AuTuTu, the device temperature becomes very hot. In our test case, the temperature increased from 27.7 degrees Celsius to 42.3 degrees Celsius, which is 14.6 degrees Celsius increase and 6% battery loss, sometimes the device even gives a warning that the device is having a very hot temperature, although Although Xiaomi said that Redmi K50 Gaming has strong upgrades in terms of cooling system
According to Xiaomi, the company has equipped this machine with a dual VC vapor chamber cooling system with a total area of 4860mm2, thereby optimizing the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip without worrying about overheating. However, it seems that the reality is not what Xiaomi says, at least for the time being. With high temperatures, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip can hardly maintain peak performance for a long time, especially when playing “heavy” games like Genshin Impact at the highest graphics level.
Hopefully in the future Xiaomi can release a software update that fixes the temperature issues
As a gaming smartphone, it is impossible not to mention the physical trigger key system equipped on the chassis
Unlike other brands’ gaming phones, the trigger key on the Redmi K50 Gaming is a physical form that can be activated or deactivated with a separate lever. The feeling of pressing the physical keys is still something much different than the pressure-sensitive keys that appear on the ROG Phone or the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone.
The bottom edge of the device has a USB-C charging port, a voice mic and a speaker strip fine-tuned by JBL
The top edge has a second speaker strip, a second recording mic and infrared “magic eye”
The left side has a volume movie and a 3rd recording mic
The right side has a power key with integrated fingerprint sensor
Redmi K50 Gaming is equipped with a 4700mAh battery, supporting 120W super fast charging technology, allowing to fully charge 100% of the battery in just 17 minutes.
The 120W charger of the Redmi K50 Gaming is the same type as the Xiaomi 12 Pro, using a USB-A port
Redmi K50 Gaming has a price in Vietnam market of about 13.5 million VND for the lowest 8GB/128GB option
