Do you know how to read NVIDIA’s “Ti” series of cards? Not sure yet, because even NVIDIA doesn’t know how to pronounce it properly – LLODO

Ever since NVIDIA attached the “Ti” suffix to the end of its most high-end graphics card products, users have always wondered how to pronounce this phrase correctly. Recently, at the CES 2022 technology event, when NVIDIA continued to launch the RTX 3090 Ti GPU model, the above question once again confused many people: It seems that even the most senior executives of the company. Can’t agree on the pronunciation for the “Ti” card line.

Currently, there are two most common readings for graphics cards with the “Ti” suffix: /taɪ/ (similar to the word “tie”) and /tɪ-aɪ/ (based on the English pronunciation of the letters T and I). And NVIDIA’s leadership team also used both of these methods, each with their own style, confusing fans even more. In addition, there are many Vietnamese users who even read it as “ti” for it’s rustic, easy to hear and easy to write.

For example, in the video below, vice president Jeff Fisher can be seen pronouncing “Ti” as /taɪ/ during his entire keynote at the RTX 3080 Ti launch event last year.

This is how NVIDIA vice president Jeff Fisher pronounces “Ti”.

However, when founder and CEO Jensen Huang speaks, he always reads “Ti” as /tɪ-aɪ/.

But CEO Jensen Huang has a different pronunciation.

Speaking to The Verge, NVIDIA’s communications director Hector Marinez said: “There is no wrong reading. As long as you can spell and rewrite the product name correctly.”

And you? Are you on the team /taɪ/, /tɪ-aɪ/, or /ti/?
