Don’t criticize Huawei’s new smartphone for being too expensive, the real purpose is not to sell, but to exist – LLODO

Huawei recently released two new mobile phone models, P50E and nova 9 SE.

However, after launching these two smartphones, the Chinese technology company has received many complaints and disparages. Simply, because their configuration is not high, but the price is very expensive.

Take the P50E as an example, this product uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip, only supports 4G networks, but the price starts from 4,088 yuan, about 14.7 million. And nova 9 SE uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G processor and starts at 2,199 yuan, equivalent to 8 million.

Huawei persisted in launching new phone models amid the dismal smartphone business.

In general, 4G smartphones using Snapdragon 778G processors from other brands are only priced at about 2,000 yuan. As for the device using the Snapdragon 680 4G processor, other brands only sell for 1,000 yuan. Which means, from a processor perspective, these two new Huawei phones are almost twice the price of their competitors.

Of course, you can’t just look at the processor to judge the configuration of a mobile phone. Because except for the processor, the P50E still has decent features such as a camera system, or its own operating system. But, in general, it is still really too expensive, an undeniably.

P50E has good configuration but the price is too high compared to competitors in the same segment.

Why are Huawei phones still so expensive?

Many Chinese netizens have expressed their displeasure and even malice towards the brand that once made them proud. But from the perspective of industry experts, the real intention behind Huawei’s move to launch this product is not too difficult to predict, although somewhat extreme. Specifically, Huawei’s current desire is not how many mobile phones it sells, but rather to increase the presence and maintain the value of a premium brand.

Currently, in the Chinese smartphone market, 5G mobile phone sales account for 80%. That means not many people are actually looking to buy 4G mobile phones.

Besides, due to trade restrictions and chip supply problems, Huawei has not launched many 4G smartphones. And for Huawei, the revenue contribution from the mobile phone business is not important right now.

Huawei nova 9 SE also costs twice as much as competitors with the same configuration.

Therefore, what the company needs to do is to let consumers remember Huawei branded mobile phones, remember that Huawei is a premium smartphone brand. From there, it led to the expectation of the return of the “king” of mobile phones.

So Huawei’s current focus is not on how many units it sells, but on impressing consumers. so that when the “king returns”, it won’t need to reshape its status and high profile image once again.

If you don’t release new smartphones on a regular basis, or accept to sell them cheaply, consumers may forget and Huawei will have a harder time selling products in the future. Therefore, the company needs to always build in the user’s consciousness that it still exists, and at the same time maintain its position on a series of high-value products. This is exactly what needs to be done right now.

At the very least, this helps to sell more products. What if it can’t be sold? Perhaps that doesn’t matter much, anyway, with the current situation, Huawei doesn’t seem to have too many products.
