Galaxy Z Flip3 is Samsung’s latest folding phone, bringing an impressive design that packs the features of a traditional smartphone into a compact body.
It was this novelty that convinced Juhani Lehtimäki, a director of a German software development company, to give up his Pixel 4 for an upgrade. This decision became even more apparent when he was motivated by a review of the Galaxy Z Flip3 by YouTuber MKBHD (Marques Brownlee).
However, Juhani quickly regretted her decision. After only 3 months of use, his Galaxy Z Flip3 broke down, thereby causing him to publish an article titled “Why I will never buy another Samsung device again” to your personal blog.
During the short three-month period of using the device, Juhani gave a positive review of the software experience, despite the fact that he was a “fanboy” of the Nexus and Pixel. “Samsung’s software has improved a lot and made me love it. I used the Z Flip3 as my primary replacement for the Pixel, and I’m starting to like it.”
Contrary to software, the hardware aspect is not so positive. Specifically, Juhani’s Z Flip3 suddenly broke its screen after 3 months, despite Juhani insisting that he used it and kept it like any other phone. Therefore, he confidently brought the device to Samsung’s service center for warranty.
“One day, I took my phone out of my pocket and the screen had a black part in the middle and the top half was paralyzed. When I got home, the black part had spread and got bigger and bigger. The screen was clear. apparently faulty when folded. I’m not too worried because I know I didn’t drop my phone, it’s housed in a case and I always use it with the same care as previous phones. So I just sent it to Samsung for repair.” Juhani wrote.
However, Juhani was then shocked to receive a notice that his Galaxy Z Flip3 was denied warranty.
“We regret that your Samsung SM-F711BZGEEUB cannot be repaired under the warranty policy. Based on the information you have provided, we have contacted our service partner for further details. related to the repair. During a technical inspection of your device, a technician determines that in addition to the display, the chassis has also suffered damage and that this damage is due to mechanical impact, such as dropping, bending, or excessive pressure. great.”, Samsung response wrote.
So what are the “damages” that Juhani did to the Galaxy Z Flip3 that caused his device to be denied warranty?
This is a screen scratch image provided by Samsung:

Because it is no longer under warranty, Samsung asked Juhani to spend 304 euros (equivalent to 7.7 million dong) to replace the screen. In Germany, the Galaxy Z Flip3 costs 1099 euros. Thus, the screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is worth 1/3 of the device.
Dissatisfied by this decision of Samsung, Juhani decided to “never give this company a dime again”. And to make sure he never changes his mind, he framed a broken Galaxy Z Flip3 with a warranty disclaimer and placed it on his desk.
According to Juhani, he is not disappointed by the product, but rather the way Samsung treats customers. Because, the folding screen is a new technology, and the new technology will certainly have shortcomings. And, those who are willing to spend money on expensive but fragile folding screen smartphones like the Galaxy Z Flip3 at the moment should be favored by Samsung.
“With a device like this, the policy should be more skewed towards the customer. Warranty waivers only occur when there are obvious user-caused failures. Samsung should protect its technology reputation. own by taking responsibility for it.”, Juhani wrote.
