At the launch event just held in China tonight (April 28), Huawei launched a series of new products, including the Mate XS 2, Huawei’s next generation of folding screen smartphone. In this version, Huawei has returned to the folding design like in the first generation Mate X.
Huawei Mate XS 2 launched
Specifically, the Mate XS 2 is equipped with a single large screen with a size of 7.8 inches when in open mode (8:7.1 ratio) and 6.5 inches when in folded mode (19: 9 ratio). This screen uses a flexible OLED panel with 2480 x 2200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling frequency and 1440Hz pulse frequency. This is a 10-bit color screen, with a “mole” design in the right corner with a 10.7MP selfie camera.
According to Huawei, the folding design on the Mate XS 2 solves most of the outstanding problems on other screen smartphones. When in the open state, the screen will be almost completely flat without the phenomenon of “wrinkles”. This design is what Huawei calls the “eagle wing” design.
The Mate XS 2 is only 5.4mm thin and weighs 255 grams, the body is finished from durable titanium alloy material with an ultra-light fiberglass layer to help absorb the force of physical impact. Basically, Mate XS 2 is many times more durable than the previous generation.
Regarding the camera, Huawei Mate XS 2 includes a 3 main camera system located on the back: 50MP wide angle, 13MP super wide angle and 8MP 3X telephoto, upgraded in both hardware and software. Users can also use the main camera cluster as a selfie camera when in folding mode.
In terms of configuration, Huawei Mate XS 2 is equipped with Snapdragon 888 4G processor. The device has 8GB or 12GB RAM, 256GB or 512GB storage memory. The battery has a capacity of 4600mAh (standard version) or 4880mAh (Collector’s Edition), supporting 66W fast charging. The device runs on HarmonyOS 2 operating system.
Huawei Mate XS 2 is on sale in China with 3 color options: white, black and purple, starting price from 9999 yuan, equivalent to nearly 35 million dong.
