Knowledge: Reduced relative clauses
– Relative clauses can be reduced to the form:
V-ing (present participle): if the relative pronoun acts as the subject and the verb in the relative clause is in the active form.
P2 (past participle): if the relative pronoun acts as the subject and the verb in the relative clause is in the passive
to V-infinitive: if the relative pronoun replaces words containing ordinal numbers such as: first, second, next, third… last, only and superlative
– The subject “an orphanage” cannot perform the action “locate” by itself => the relational model has a passive meaning.
Full sentence: The famous singer has just visited and given gifts to children in an orphanage which/that is located in her hometown.
Short sentence: The famous singer has just visited and given gifts to children in an orphanage located in her hometown.
The famous singer has just visited and given gifts to children at an orphanage located in her hometown.
