You did not hear wrong, the birth of Windows 11 marked the turning point Microsoft can run virtualization of Android applications, now Android 13 can also install and run Windows 11 on phones.
A recently released Android 13 developer beta brings some compatibility for virtualization. A developer takes advantage of this feature by running Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 operating system on a Smart phone.
Over the weekend, Android and web developer kdrag0n demonstrated virtualized Windows 11 running on a Google Pixel 6 phone. They accomplished the feat by using the Android 13 Preview with a new feature called KVM.
With screenshots and a short video, kdrag0n shows things like Task Manager and a web browser, in action on Windows 11 installed on Android. The author says Windows 11 is “really usable” despite not supporting GPU hardware acceleration. In fact, he even posted a video showing Doom running on a Windows 11 VM

The process of getting Windows 11 to run as a virtual machine on Android 13 is complicated. Android is built on top of the Linux kernel, allowing technically savvy engineers to bring virtual machines of different operating systems to devices running Android 13. Windows 11 isn’t the only operating system to be introduced. running on Pixel 6, as he also introduced various Linux distributions that can be installed on Android 13.
The Android 13 Developer Preview went live last week. It promises new features like language options and increased privacy when dealing with photos or apps. The beta is expected to be released in the first quarter of this year, the stable will be out in the summer, and the full version will be released later this year.
It’s also not the first time we’ve seen Windows 11 Arm running on an Android phone. A community named Project Renegade previously ported Microsoft’s Windows 10 Arm and Windows 11 Arm to Snapdragon 845 devices. But Android 13 virtualization support is exciting and we hope this feature will bring many benefits to users in the future. .
