YouTube started testing a new feature called Heatseeker, which will show you the most viewed parts of a YouTube video. This feature is currently available to Premium users and they will be asked to give feedback on the feature.
Currently this feature is not available for all videos. While watching a YouTube video, as you can see in the screenshot below, the user can now hover over the search bar to see not only the frames but also the heatmap histogram.
This map helps highlight the most viewed parts of the video with the highest scores, while the lower highest parts mean that not many users watch that part of the video.
Thanks to this handy feature, users can even jump directly to the most viewed part of a video, no longer needing to click random timestamps to find the important part of the video.
YouTube describes Heatseeker as a feature that “allows you to find interesting moments in a video while searching for a specific part”. This can give creators a better idea of what content or topic will attract more attention from viewers.
